Pronounced "Shå-kôn" - is a musical form consisting of variations based on a reiterated harmonic pattern. Chaccone was inspired by Bach's Prelude of the Cello Suite No.1 in G Major. The Bach Prelude is probably the best known movement from the entire set of suites and is regularly heard on television and films. In the orchestral setting of Chaccone, the cellos play the single repeating harmonic Bach-like phrasings as various wind sections blend with harmony, counter-melody and theme.
